On 24th September, 26th September and 27th September 2010, UBD Ping Pong Club will be hosting the 2nd edition of the UBD TABLE TENNIS OPEN, 2010.
Date:
à 24th September
· 1st Stage Team Event, 8.00AM – 12.00PM
· 1st Stage Single Event, 1.30PM – 5.00PM
à 26th September
· 2nd Stage Team Event, 8.00AM – 12.00PM
· 2nd Stage Single Event, 1.30PM – 5.00PM
à And 27th September
· Team Event Bronze Medal Playoff, 5.30PM
· Single Event Bronze Medal Playoff, 6.30PM
· Team Event Final, 7.00PM
· Single Event Final, 8.00PM
· Medal Presentation, 8.30PM
· Refreshments, 9.00PM
Venue: UBD Multi Purpose Hall (Near HEP, ATM machines)

What is UBD Table Tennis Open?
§ It is a mix or UNISEX Team event and Single event competition.
Format:
Tournament format?
à Team event:
· Maximum 3 players and Minimum 2 players per team.
· 1st Stage (Round Robin or Group Stage)
· 2nd Stage (Knock-out)
o Winners and Runners-up of respective groups will compete in the Championship Stage.
o 3rd and 4th place of respective groups will compete in the Bronze Stage.
o The 2 Finalist of the Bonze Stage will play the 2 losers of the Championship Stage Semifinal, for the Bronze Medal.
· Matches are based on Best of 3 games – Single, Double, Single.
· Games are based on Best of 3 Sets for the 1st stage and early 2nd stage. Only Best of 5 Sets will be played for the Championship Stage Final and Bronze Stage Final.
à Single event:
· 1st Stage (Round Robin)
· 2nd Stage (Knock-out stage)
· Games are based on Best of 5 sets.
Note: Umpiring during the earlier stage will be done by the players themselves (turn-taking). Umpires will be provided in the later stages of the tournament.
Prizes:
Team Event – 1 Trophy, 3 Gold Medal, 3 Silver Medal and 3 Bronze Medal
Single Event – 1 Gold Medal, 1 Silver Medal and 1 Bronze Medal
Best Player Awards:
Gold Player – 1 Gold Medal
Silver Player – 1 Silver Medal
Bronze Player – 1 Bronze Medal
Note: Certificates will be given to UBD participants.
Terms:
Who can join?
v Open ONLY to Students and Staff members of UBD.
Entry fee:
· $5 per person for Team event and $5 per person for Single event.
· But if you play both events then you only need to pay $7 per person.
· Payments can be made during the day of the tournament.

Rules:
à International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
à The service rule will be relaxed, but hidden serves are not allowed.
à Coaching rule will be relaxed.
à Time wasting rule will be relaxed.
à Audiences must remain quiet when a point is being played during a game.
à Audiences must not harass the competitors during a game.
à You would be asked to leave the hall if the two rules above persist.
Draw:
The Draw will be made on 21th September 2010, 8.00AM (With UBD PPC committee members present). The results of the draw as well as the tournament schedule will be posted on ubdppc.blogspot.com at 9.00PM on the same day (The Results of the Draw are final, alterations will not be allowed).
Note: The briefing for team managers will be made on 24th September 2010, 8.00AM (Before the tournament begins)
