UBD TABLE TENNIS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP!! (NOW OPEN FOR REGISTRATION)

 

Example of tournament prospectus:

On 8^th, 9^th and 10^th February 2010, the UBD Ping Pong Club will be hosting the 1^st edition of the UBD TABLE TENNIS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP. 

Date: 8^th,9^th & 10^th February 2010 (4.30pm to 9pm).

Place: UBD Multi Purpose Hall (Near HEP, ATM machines)

Event: Mix Team competition.

What is the UBD team championship?

§  It is a mix or unisex (Boys and Girls are allowed to team with each other if they wish) Team competition.

§  Participants are to choose their own teammates and form a Team of minimum 2 players or maximum 3 players.

Format:

Tournament format?

·      Participating Teams will first have to get pass the group stages in order to proceed into the knockout stages for a chance at winning the Team Championship Trophy. (Only the top 2 teams per group will proceed to the knockout stages)

Match format for group stage?

Ø  During the group stages, the match between 2 teams will be based on 2 games only. The first game is singles and the second game is doubles.

Ø  The team that wins 2 games will get 2 points, and the team that loses 2 games will not receive any point.

Ø  If the two teams manage to get 1 game each then it will be considered a draw and thus the two opposing teams will get 1 point each.

Match format for knockout stage?

Ø  The match format for the knockout stages will be based on best of 3 (first team to win 2 games, win).

Ø  First game is Singles followed by the Doubles in the second game and if needed the third game will be Singles, to decide the winner.

How are set points scored?

Ø  Sets are played to 11 points.

Ø  In the group stages, best of 3 will be played (first person to win 2 sets, win).

Ø  In the knockout stages, best of 5 will be played (first person to win 3 sets, win).

Who can join?

v Open to all people associated with UBD.

Entry fee: $5 Per Person. Entry forms available at PMUBD shop.

Closing date: 6^th February 2010.

Where to submit the entry forms?

o   During Ping Pong Club sessions, every Wednesday, 4.30-6.30pm at the UBD gym, Ping Pong room.

A random draw to determine which teams goes into which group will be made and the results of the draw as well as the match schedule of the tournament will be posted on http://ubdppc.blogspot.com/ by 7^th January 2010. Please check regularly for updates.
